Services

Simon delivers focused consultancy for language schools building or improving home tuition programmes. Each engagement is tailored to your school's specific situation, not a standard package applied off the shelf.

Programme Design & Setup

Building a home tuition programme requires more than finding willing host families. It demands a coherent operational framework — covering recruitment, vetting, matching, welfare, and quality assurance — that can scale as your programme grows. Home tuition shares some of the logic of a standard language school operation, but it differs in critical ways, and those differences need to be designed for from the outset.

I built the operating system for my own school from scratch, working through every point where home tuition diverges from the standard language school model and building processes that account for those differences. That system became the backbone of a programme spanning 15 languages and 25 countries and territories.

I work with your leadership team from initial feasibility through to operational launch — including full support with the technical construction of your programme. That means either developing a home-tuition-specific CRM and operating system tailored to your needs, or integrating home tuition workflows into your existing platforms. You'll finish the engagement with the policies, processes, and tools to run it confidently from day one.

This service includes:

  • Feasibility assessment and market positioning
  • Operational framework design, accounting for the specific demands of home tuition
  • Host tutor recruitment and vetting frameworks
  • Student placement and matching protocols
  • Welfare and safeguarding policy development
  • CRM and operating system development, or integration into existing packages
  • Operational documentation and staff guidance

Operational Review & Improvement

An underperforming home tuition programme is rarely the result of a single problem. More often it reflects a combination of gaps — in quality control, host family management, student experience, or commercial positioning — that have accumulated over time.

I conduct a structured review of your current operations, drawing on direct experience of what good looks like in this sector. You'll receive a clear, prioritised improvement plan that your team can act on immediately — with practical recommendations, not abstract observations.

This service includes:

  • End-to-end operational audit
  • Host family quality assessment
  • Student experience and welfare review
  • Commercial and pricing analysis
  • Prioritised improvement roadmap

Staff Training & Development

The quality of a home tuition programme depends heavily on the people managing it. Homestay coordinators, welfare officers, and senior staff need specific knowledge and skills that aren't always easy to develop through general training.

I deliver tailored training sessions — in person or remotely — covering the practical realities of home tuition management. Sessions are built around your school's actual programme and the challenges your team faces, not generic course content.

I also work with sales and marketing teams to help them incorporate home tuition into your existing portfolio effectively — giving your agents the product knowledge, positioning language, and confidence to sell it alongside your other programmes.

This service includes

  • Host family recruitment and relationship management
  • Student welfare and safeguarding best practice
  • Handling complaints and difficult situations
  • Quality assurance and inspection readiness
  • Sales and marketing training for agents and commercial teams
  • Programme growth and development planning

Accreditation & Compliance Support

Home tuition provision is subject to specific requirements under a range of national and transnational accreditation frameworks. Standards vary considerably, depending on where your school operates and which bodies it is accredited by. Meeting those requirements requires careful preparation and the right documentation.

I provide practical guidance to ensure your home tuition provision meets the standards required by the relevant scheme, and that your policies, records, and processes hold up under scrutiny. Having been through this process directly across multiple frameworks, I know where inspectors focus and what good evidence looks like.

This service includes:

  • Accreditation requirements review
  • Inspection preparation guidance and review
  • Policy and documentation audit
  • Inspection preparation and mock review
  • Compliance gap analysis
  • Ongoing compliance monitoring support
